Every best-time-to-post chart you have seen is an average, calculated from a large pool of accounts that are not yours. It is a reasonable guess and a terrible instruction.
Why the charts disagree
The studies come from different datasets: one platform or twelve, a year of posts or a quarter, global audiences or one country. Add a different definition of best — reach, clicks, comments — and the advice changes. That is why two credible sources can point at Tuesday morning and Friday evening.
What the charts are still worth
Use them as a starting range, not a destination. Broad patterns hold: people check phones early in the morning, in the gaps between tasks, and again after dinner. Local and family businesses often do better on weekends than business-to-business accounts do.
The only number that matters comes from your own followers, because your audience has its own rhythm — school runs, shift work, closing time, the fair.
A four-week test that takes ten minutes
Pick three windows you can defend: a weekday morning, a weekday early evening, and whatever slot fits your trade — Saturday morning, Sunday afternoon, the hour before you close.
Post the same style of content in each window for four weeks. Same tone, similar photo quality, similar offer. Anything else and you are measuring the post, not the time.
Log two numbers per post, forty-eight hours after it goes out: reach and clicks. Ignore likes; they cost nothing to give.
At the end of the month, average each window. Move most of your posts to the winner, keep one experiment running, and re-run the test each season — audiences shift with school calendars, weather, and holidays.
What to ignore
Do not rebuild your schedule around a single viral post, a screenshot from another industry, or a tool that promises a magic hour from a global dataset. If it cannot be reproduced on your own numbers, it is trivia.
Make the test automatic
The hard part is not knowing when to post, it is publishing when you decided to. Schedule the week in KickPost and the queue handles the timing while you compare reach and clicks in analytics.
